Again we are looking backward...

... a Christmas greeting lost, but a legacy found.

This article can be found here in the Conway Public Library's online collection of the Reporter News from Thursday, November 2, 1961 (page 8). The article describes an interesting mix of history and art. A version of the print can be found on display in the history hall downstairs at the library near the water fountain.

Here are a few details of the image.

Here is a postcard of the old train station for comparison.

This is a color version of the image at the town office.

Here are a couple details from our 1923 Sanborn Insurance map showing the location of the train station.

A photograph of the train station dated November 1959 with a small brick building in the background can be seen here on our online history catalog.

That brick building can still be seen today along the railroad tracks just north of the Northway Bank building in Conway village.

A photograph of the train station being taken down can be found here on our online history catalog.

Here is the artist's signature on the image at the library.

More information on the artist can be found through the library's ancestry account.

Here is her obituary.

She was also an author in addition to being an artists.
